I am the 8th day for this year's Advent Blog Hop put on by the wonderful Jo from Serendipitous Stitching.
Jo asked us to post a stitched picture on a festive theme. I am choosing a stitched Christmas ornament I recently did for my Aunt. I think this pattern goes well with the background of my blog and for this special time of the year. This pattern is from the 2001 For the Love of Cross Stitch Magazine. The pattern is called The Star. It was stitched on 32 count fabric using DMC floss.
Along with the stitched picture Jo asked if we could share a Christmas food that we have this time of year. My husband, son and I don't have anything in particular that we cook. However every year my Mom would always make fudge. It was so good and this year I wanted to make some. My Mom passed away in 2009 and I wished I had her recipes. Then it struck me I did have her Betty Crocker Cookbook. This cookbook is from 1971. My Mom cooked many meals with it. We moved many times in my childhood and this cookbook was always with us.
Inside her cookbook I found a recipe for fudge. I think this is the one she has used for many years. It has to be. I purchased the ingredients yesterday and I will post here with the results. Do you think it will be the same recipe? I do hope so. I love my Mom and miss her so much. Last week I was on Ebay and found a cookbook similar to my Mom's. This one appeared to be in the best shape from that year. I now have this cookbook in my kitchen next to my mom's.
Thinking about the past with Betty Crocker's cookbook I found an old photo of me with my Betty Crocker Easy Bake Oven.
Thanks for stopping by and going down memory lane with me. Don't forget to go to Jo's Blog and check out all the blogs for the blog hop.
